Secret Sounds with Logan and Nathan performing “Come For Me”

Happy FriYAY! Take a listen to this stunning performance by Logan and Nathan from ArtsWells 2018... “ ArtsWells Festival has always been a festival of emotions for us. It's a space where you can come to feel. Feel the strength of community, art, and movement but also feel incredibly challenged and shook by different music and workshops. This song is about a woman who can see everything. She is looking at the world and all the people in it wondering how we got so muddled up. This song is about the cyclical nature of time, and how we possibly could learn a lot from our own ancestors.” Logan and Nathan. Hailing from Vancouver, alternative folk duo Logan and Nathan have released their debut album, Chasing Tales (and a few other things). Consisting of a 15-song track listing, their vivid debut experiments with bare instrumentals and serene sounds that push the traditions of folk music. It’s a brand of self-proclaimed “freak folk,” braiding various timbres and transitions through a ghostly, unaccompanied lens. The two came together when they were trapped in Canmore, AB during a flood that washed out all routes of escape. Seeing how the end was near, the two teamed up for one last musical hurrah, serenading the flood victims pickled blood late into the hues of a starlit night. It was here that they first combined folk with the eclectic. Imagine Johnny and June after a trip down the rabbit hole. Their music dances along the lines of Folk Music, but when they perform it turns into something else. Logan is on the Tenor Banjo (Ida-Mae from the 1920’s), Nathan on guitar, both sing lead and harmonize with one another. Sounds like a typical folk duo, however, they have been exploring with amps, pedals, effect mics, sprinkling in Beat Boxing and audience engagement. Logan and Nathan’s music creates a space for emotions to be honest, hearts to be warm, and thoughts to be soothed with discomfort. The magic in this video wouldn’t be majestic if it wasn’t for the creative contribution from Logan (also a member of The Honey Tongues) & Nathan (also a member of The Honey Tongues andRed Haven). Stay tuned for more ArtsWells Secret Sessions by Trent Freeman.
